This presentation will explain the basics of how we develop immunity to dangerous infections. If enough people in a large group, like the Wolfpack, are immune, eventually the disease can’t spread anymore - then you get Herd (or Pack) Immunity!
Paul Lunn, Ph.D. has been the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University since February, 2012. Previously he was Head of the Department of Clinical Sciences at Colorado State University, and Director of the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Lunn grew up in a farming community in North Wales, and studied veterinary medicine at Liverpool University. After a period of clinical training in Ontario and Wisconsin, he studied for his PhD at the University of Cambridge. As a faculty member, in addition to clinical work Dr. Lunn’s research has focused on influenza virus and EHV-1 infection in horses, and more recently on infectious diseases of working equids in low-income countries.
