Abstract

Humans have, over the past 12,000 years, accelerated in population growth rates and ecological consequences, ushering in a new geological era, the anthropocene. This growth presents major changes and challenges for the future of human societies. The good news is that the rate of increase in the number of new ideas has accelerated, too! Rob Dunn, Ph.D. emphasizes that sharing these new ideas freely and across disciplines is essential if they are to truly help us deal with the consequences of our growth.

Rob Dunn is a professor in the Department of Applied Ecology at NC State and the author of seven books, most recently A Natural History of the Future.
